Dark green beveled and gilt-blocked cloth with design of dancing nymphs and satyrs on front boards. Floral patterned endpapers. All edges gilt. A collection of cartoon engravings and other illustrations culled from the pages of LIFE magazine, which started out as a humor weekly, before its transformation later in the early 20th century as a serious photojournalism magazine. Artists included Oliver Herford, J. A. Mitchell, Albert E. Sterner, Charles Dana Gibson, and others with more inscrutable signatures.
