Bodenheim, Maxwell; Hecht, Ben Minna and Myself NY Pagan Publishing 1918 Hardcover Good Red cloth binding with gilt lettering on front boards. Boards worn and soiled, 1/2 inch missing from head of spine, dark stain at fore-edge of front boards, pages toned. Contains poetry by Bodenheim and a play written by Bodeheim and Ben Hecht entitled "The Master-Poisoner" (misspelled on p. 67). This is the first book by both Bodenheim and Hecht, who were part of the vibrant Chicago literary scene of the 1910s-20s, finding time to cofound the shortlived Chicago Literary Times magazine, when they weren't hanging out with Vachel Lindsay, Carl Sandburg, Sherwood Anderson and Theodore Dreiser. The Minna of this volume is Minna Schein, Bodenheim's first of his three wives. Bodenheim later was a fixture of New York's Greenwich Village, though he became an alcoholic street person, and was ultimately killed by a mentally ill acquaintance. Hecht went on to more literary glory in his writing career, which included journalism, novels, short stories and Hollywood screenplays, for which he received two Academy Awards and several other nominations.
